About Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a surgical technique involving the insertion of a small camera into a joint and performing surgeries using various specialized instruments. It is used for both diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes.

Who Performs Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy is performed by a trained Orthopaedic surgeon who is further specialized in sports injuries.

Which Joint?

The knee and shoulder are the most common joints to be operated on by arthroscopy. Hip, ankle, elbow, and wrist are also operated on using this technique.

Why Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopic surgery has gained popularity over the past few years. It uses small skin incisions, is less painful, has a shorter hospital stay, has quicker recovery, small cosmetic scars, and provides the surgeon a bloodless, magnified view of the joint. An awake patient can also watch the live surgery on a screen.

Arthroscopic Procedures in Sports Injuries

Most of the sports injuries involve joint injuries, namely ACL/PCL  tears, meniscus tears, articular cartilage injuries, loose body in joints instability of the knee, shoulder, rotator cuff tears, OCD of talus, throwers shoulder/ throwers elbow, TFCC injury.
